Wiluna Void Scan

Identifying the location and size of existing underground voids, especially historical stopes, is crucial to the safety of miners and the financial future of any mining project. Mine Survey Plus was engaged by Wiluna Mining Corporation to provide data around the size and extent of an underground void that was to be overlaid by a new development drive.

  • Client Wiluna Mining Corporation
  • Location Wiluna Gold Operation
  • Duration Under 45 minutes
  • Services Identification of underground voids

Outcome

Mine Survey Plus utilised their C-ALS (Cavity Autoscanning Laser System) with internal gyro to perform an in-stope scan through a 90mm probe hole. From start to finish, the job was completed in under 45 minutes with a scanning time of 15 minutes. The survey was completed safely and with minimal disruption to mining. The resulting data showed the void being larger and closer than recorded on existing mine plans and provided a higher degree of confidence in planning future development.
