Kibali Gold Mine
Mine Survey Plus was engaged by Rand Gold Resources (now Barrick Gold) at the Kibali Gold Mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo to conduct an audit of the Underground Mine Survey Department and to provide Gyroscopic Check Surveys across all major production levels. Mine Survey Plus was able to add value to the operations by identifying clear and actionable items for improvement, with an easy to understand and referable delivery. The survey team was engaged in a friendly, non-confrontational manner and were active participants in finding ways to improve the quality of the deliverables.

Outcome
The Gyroscopic Check Survey produced accurate and repeatable results by checking historic baselines and closing onto our own work regularly. Additionally, Mine Survey Plus provided training on least square adjustment, mentoring to the survey team and improvement in day to day operations through immediate remedial actions identified in the field. Mine Survey Plus is continuing to support the Kibali Gold Mine in their efforts to streamline underground data sets and ease the data load on the site based IT infrastructure, as well as follow up work to ensure that recommendations from the audit are fully implemented.
